Tuesday May 3 Picks

Washington Nationals @ Kansas City Royals (Washington Moneyline Even)

Nationals: Roark (2-2, 2.03) Royals: Young (1-4, 6.12)

The Royals have lost six of their last seven games and have been being shut out in three of their last four games. Washington starter, Tanner Roark is coming off of back to back starts where he has only allowed 2 hits and 0 runs in 7 innings pitched. I like the Nationals as the underdogs in this match-up against the struggling Royals and Chris Young.

Chicago Cubs  @ Pittsburgh Pirates (Cubs -1.5,-115)

(Pirates: Niese 3-0, 5,08) Cubs: J. Arrieta (5-0, 1.00)

Jake Arrieta is on fire and so are the Cubs as a team. The Cubs have won each of Arrieta’s five starts by at least four runs. I am going to keep riding Arrieta and the Cubs here to win by more then one run.

New York Yankees @ Baltimore Orioles (Orioles Moneyline -120)

(Yankees: Severino (0-3, 6.86) Baltimore: Tillman (2-1, 3.24)

The Orioles lead Major League Baseball with a .296 home batting average.  At Camden Yards, Baltimore will be a challenge for the Yankees young pitcher Luis Severino. The Yankees are currently on a five game losing streak.  I like the Orioles to win here.

Atlanta Braves @ New York Mets  (Mets -1.5, -115)

Mets: Harvey (2-3, 4.76) Braves: Wisler (o-2, 4.26)

Matt Harvey will be facing the Braves for the second time this season, he earned a win in his previous start at Atlanta, going 5 innings and allowing 2 earned runs.

The Braves are currently ranked last in the National League in team batting average and runs scored. I like the Mets to win be more than one run here.

Minnesota Twins @ Houston Astros (Over 8.5 Runs, -110)

Twins: Meyer (0-0, 18.00) Astros: McHugh(2-3, 6.65)

The last five times the Minnesota Twins have been involved in a game with an over/under of exactly 8.5 the game has gone over. Of the Twins last 14 games overall, only three have gone under. McHugh is 2-0 with a 2.00 ERA against the Twins, but has been shaky in three out of five starts this season. With Alex Meyer making his first big league start for the Twins, I think the Twins bullpen sees at least three innings. I like the chances of this game having at least 9 runs scored. I am going with the over 8.5.
