Saturday May 21 MLB Picks

Here are my six MLB picks for today

New York Yankees at Oakland Athletics (Yankees Moneyline -150)

Yankees (Tanaka 1-0, 3.51)  Athletics (Manaea 1-1, 7.91)

Athletics lineup is 0-12 career against Tanaka. I like the Yankees to win against the rookie Sean Manaea.

Tampa Bay Rays at Detroit Tigers (Over 8.5 runs, -110)

Rays (Smyly 2-4, 3.44)  Tigers (Fulmer 2-1, 6.52)

Overs are 27-13-1 in Detroit games this season.  The over is 4-0 when Michael Fulmer starts. Drew Smyly’s last three starts have gone over. Look for over 8.5 runs to be scored here.

Seattle Mariners at Cincinnati Reds (Mariners -1.5 Runs, -105)

Mariners (Hernandez  3-3, 2.47) Reds (Lamb 0-1, 5.79)

Reds have dropped five straight and eight of their last nine games. Sending John Lamb to the mound against Seattle ace Felix Hernandez is not a good recipe for the Reds to break their losing streak.  Look for Seattle to win.

Chicago Cubs at San Francisco Giants (Cubs Moneyline -160)

Cubs (Lester 4-2, 1.88)  Giants (Cain 0-5, 5.87)

Matt Cain has pitched much better in his last two starts, but I still like the Cubs to win here. John Lester is 3-0 against the Giants with an ERA of 1.11 for his career. I am picking a Cubs victory.

Baltimore Orioles at Los Angeles Angels

Two picks: Orioles Moneyline -127 and Over 8 runs

Orioles (Gausman 0-1, 3.00)  Angels (Shoemaker 2-5, 8.49)

Matt Shoemaker was solid on the road against the Dodgers on Monday night, but overall has not pitched well this season. The Angels are 2-11 when Shoemaker starts over the last two seasons. Shoemaker has a 14.40 ERA in three home starts this and a 9.58 ERA in five night starts this season. I like Baltimore to win and over 8 runs to be scored.
