Similar to last season, if you want to bet on the Boston Red Sox in 2019, you are going to have to consider taking Boston on the run line or else risk good amount of juice.

The Red Sox led all of Major League Baseball in 2018 with 108 wins and 876 runs scored (5.4 per game). More importantly, Boston ended the season as World Champions.

The Seattle Mariners had a solid 2018 campaign, finishing 89-73 in 2018, however at the

All Star Break the Mariners hoped for much more.  Seattle led Oakland by three games for the final American League Wild Card spot, before going only 31-34 in the second half of the season. Oakland finished 42-23 after the All Star break and earned the final American League Wildcard spot.

The 2019 edition of the Mariners are a team looking for an identity.  In the off season Seattle traded away Robinson Cano, Edwin Diaz, Jean Segura and James Paxton.  The Mariners also saw slugger Nelson Cruz, who hit 163 home runs for them over past four seasons sign with Minnesota.  The Mariners will hope that new additions Jay Bruce and Edwin Encarnacion can help replace the lost power production.

The Mariners are off to a 2-0 start after picking up two wins over Oakland in Tokyo including a 9-7 win in the season opener where Marco Gonzales started and allowed three earned runs over six innings.

Marco Gonzales is 0-1 in his career against Boston with a 7.50 ERA

Chris Sale is 6-1 against the Mariners in his career with a 1.95 ERA, his team is 7-2 overall in those games.

I don’t see this group of Mariners getting off to a 3-0 start and beating the Red Sox behind Chris Sale.  I am taking the Red Sox despite the price being higher than I would like.

My Pick: Boston Red Sox MONEYLINE -180

Risk:  To win 3 units
